Bob's diary
Day 1 I met James today. He looked tired and sad. I was hungry, but I stayed near him. He gave me food and let me sit on his lap. His hands were warm. People passed by, but I didn’t care. Something about him felt right. I think he needs me as much as I need him. I will stay. Maybe I can help him smile again.
Day 2 We went outside today. The streets were loud and I climbed on James’s shoulder to feel safe. He played his music, and some people stopped and smiled at us. I could feel his hope. I don‘t know the world well, but I like being with him. It is scary sometimes, but I feel strong with James.
Day 3 James seemed sad again today. I nudged his hand, wanting to help. He smiled a little, but he was still tired. I rubbed my head against his arm. I do not understand why humans feel pain, but I want to stay close. Maybe just sitting with him helps. He is kind, and I feel safe too.
Day 4 The city is busy, but I feel calm with James. We found a quiet corner near the subway. People walked by quickly, some surprised to see me. James said I keep him company. I looked at him, and he smiled softly. The street lights turned on. I don’t know everything, but I know him. I will stay near him.
Day 5 Night comes, and I sit near James while he plays guitar. The music is soft, and I feel warm. The city noises are far away for a while. I close my eyes and purr. I think about the days before I met him, and I am glad they are gone. . We’re best friends now.

Diary of James Bowen
Chapter 1
Two days ago something strange happened. It was a Thursday evening and I got home from busking in Covent garden. My friend Belle and I headed towards the stairs to my flat. Suddeny we recognized a ginger cat on the ground floor flats. I stroke his neck and looked if he has a collar anywhere, but there wasn‘t any. I thought he must be a stray. Today in the morning the cat was still there. I decided to give him some milk and treats. I saw that he is injured on his neck and he let me sterilise the wound. On my way to busking I took the cat with me, thinking he may find the way back to his home, but he wanted to stay with me.
Chapter 2
Today I went to the vet with the cat. We looked whether he was microchipped, but he wasn’t. I got some medicine for him and we got back home. It seems like I was responsible for him now, so I gave him a name, Bob. I really enjoyed Bob‘s company but I knew that sooner or later he would go back to the streets.
Chapter 5
Today was the day. I took Bob with me to go busking in Covent Garden, he rode quietly in my hoodie on the bus watching everything. In Covent Garden he sat beside me while I played and people loved him instantly. They stopped , listened and I earned more money than usual. I felt we’d become a real team.
Chapter 15
The worst thing I could have imagined happened today. I almost lost Bob. Bob and I were at Piccadilly Circus tube station, when a guy from Ripleys came out on the street. He was wearing a big inflatable outfit that made him look three times his size. When the guy tried to stroke Bob, Bob freaked out and ran away. The first thought in my mind was: „He is gone!“ I jumped up and left the guitar behind. I shouted after Bob but there was too much noise around. I saw his orange tail, I wasn‘t fast enough though. I asked everyone I passed if they saw an orange cat. Then, finally I found Bob in a ladies‘ clothes shop. The owners of the shop were really nice and we talked a bit. To my amazement my guitar was still there when we got back. It actually didn't matter to me, I was just
happy to have Bob back.
Today was a strange day. The weather was bad and Bob's behaviour was really weird. He actually scared me with this - he didn‘t greet me or follow me around like usual - he just lay there, looking tired and not touching his food. A mate‘s partner (Rosemary), who‘s a vet assistant or something, came and checked on him. She said that he may have eaten something from a rubbish bin. She gave me medicine and told me what to keep an eye on. Bob took the medicine quietly, which worried me even more. Now he‘s resting beside me, finally a bit calmer. I keep glancing over at him ,hoping he‘ll be back to his usual self tomorrow.

My little cat, Bob
I was so helpless, I only had drugs
When all I needed was lots of hugs.
But one day, I saw a cat
The cat was sick, it looked very bad.
I was so alone, I had no job,
So I decided to keep him and name him Bob.
I took the sick cat and went to the vet,
He needed to be taken care of like a real pet.
After a while, he still wasn‘t healed yet,
So I helped him more, I didn‘t want him to be dead.
After a month, Bob was finally healed,
His healthy fur and his happiness revealed.
With him I am happier and less alone,
My little cat, Bob, is now my comfort zone.
I play guitar, on the street I sit,
Hoping for money, bit by bit.
My cat is here, he‘s very cute,
People smile and give even more loot.
I play a song, but when Bob is around,
People give more, all over town.
Bob is a messy cat,
he doesn‘t use his litter tray.
He uses a bush instead,
Because that is his way.
But messy or not,
I will always love him,
Chaotic or not,
He always makes me grin.
Bob is perfect, he‘s a very cute cat,
He is intelligent, and I love that.
Even if he‘s lazy, looking like a slob,
I will always love my little cat, Bob
